Piles of pendings
Things in my blogger drafts file: Christmas tree pics, the hall shoe trail, an Australian version (under construction) of a Christmas meme.

Things in my fridge: lamb mince waiting to be pre-made koftas for Saturday's party, drunken fruit and nuts waiting to be Christmas cake for same party, bottles of cleanskin chardonnay waiting to be drunk.

Things by my bed: Temeraire, Cloud Atlas, a pile of scripts for approval, waiting to be read.

Things arrived in the post: Shantaram, signed copy, waiting to be acknowledged with a HUGE thank you to the lovely person who sent it to me. You know who you are.

I'm running like a bear on green apples.

Gotta get to work.

Which seems like a waste when another beautiful sunny Sydney day awaits and my piles of pendings just continue to grow.

Yeah, work has just got to go. It's the festive seasons, no one has time to work. Don't organisations know this??

Oh Bec you're so not alone...

After weeks of procrastinating as I get used to the fact that all my offspring are at school, I suddenly find myself in the positin of having to get two ms to a designer before Christmas, as well as rewrites for my first novel which I foolishly said I'd do by 21 Dec (WHY?????), and in between factor in all the kids' nativity shows, Christmas shopping and taking my mil endlessly to the doctors...

It's all go here.

And the weather is shit...

We've got wind and flooding.

love Jane

PS

Should have also added to my pendings... all the foreign pressies/cards I haven't started yet, the 40th birthday present I'm supposed to be organising, and the pole dancing class I'm trying to get to in the purposes of research for aforementioned book...

If I get to one, I will be blogging...

Yea, me too-- "scripts?" Explanation please. I've been reading for months and this is the first I've heard.

Scripts: not as exciting as it sounds. My role is more as chief censor. Can't say more, need to keep some mystery!!

Stay tuned for cake post in pics - if, having forgotten a vital step, I can work out how to get the flipping thing out of its tin...

I love homemade REAL Christmas cake but alas I am the only person in my family who eats it. I am a ginormous pig, but even I could not polish off an entire Chrissy cake before the mould got to it. Hmmm ... maybe I need to use more alcohol preservatives..

And I agree, there is no time to work. Simply no time.

I have boycotted Christmas completely. Avoiding end of year bashes like the plague, refusing to do any shopping, and getting the HELL OUTTA HERE on the 24th.

It's taken years of practice, but I'm starting to get good at this.

I really just can't deal with Christmas anymore.

It's a bit like that, isn't it ?

I had so many half-written posts before I settled on my last half-arsed effort.

My fridge is currently chokkas, but it's all 'no, not until Sunday' food. At least we'll be all slim and sexy for the party, having starved for 3 days prior ;)

Australian version? Does that mean it pokes fun at the Kiwi's?

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Actually, ctD, an Australian version is likely to poke fun at everybody.

We're very egalitarian like that.

A signed copy of Shantaram?! Ooh er. JeaLOUS.

And see, this is why I should have said THANKYOU through email (which will not open for me at present) rather than through blog.

Be nice. She just loves me best, that's all.
