Wow. I don't know how long this will last but so far Bitacle.org's mindless machines are busily uploading all my old posts under their republished "STOLEN BY BITACLE" headers.
Here's what's happening:

- the STOLEN BY BITACLE posts are now linking directly back to my real blog. I'm not sure if that will last but I don't object to it at present.
- The older links for posts that I have now republished show up as dead ends - 'no post found'.
- The posts I haven't touched yet from my blog are still showing up in vile Bitacle format.
Unfortunately, the 'aggregate' blog they have made from my work is still there, but it is now full of posts called 'stolen by bitacle' - so the fuckers are giving me a good laugh, anyway.
So partial success already - I'll keep you updated.

How do you find out if you have been swiped? I have put a copyright thingy up, but feel it will be useless.
Hope some fat cat lawyer does sue the mongrels!
What rotten low-life scum. How on earth did you find out about this? I googled Bitacle and see there are a number of articles on how to stop them. I couldn't make a lot of sense of them, but I do like your approach!

I'm going to have to show my ignorance, but what is bitacle and what does it mean to be swiped? I should probably stop being lazy and google bitacle but I don't want to have any unwanted attention until I understand what's going on. Could you e-mail me a quick explanation Bec (if you have time from re-naming all your posts?)
This may be the most effective method yet at alerting readers who peruse Bitacle that the content was swiped.

Sorry all - I am in work lock-down mode for a couple of days, will try to get back to this tonight. Meantime if you go to Bitacle.org and type ladieslounge into the seach engine and click the aggregates tab you will see what they have done to my blog... and maybe yours!!
My blog was also showing up under awful advertising on their Blogs search until I started putting Stolen By Bitacle on top of each post. Now those links mostly come directly back to my own real blog, and I can live with that.
I really don't know who uses Bitacle.org other than irate Bloggers out looking for their swiped content.
It makes me feel awful, though, to see my words on someone else's page this way - quite different to the lovely feeling of seeing someone deliberately choose to quote/link you!!

I am going to have to have a good read of this. I have never heard of Bitacle before. I am sorry that they've stung you, but your revenge is pure genius!

Brilliant idea! I changed my feed setting to "short form" and (so far) I haven't had any new entries posted. I'll keep an eye on it.
Oh I'm so sorry Bec and I'm glad you got your own back.
Just occurred to me, Bec, that it might be worth making the 'stolen by bitacle' title to read; 'stolen by bitacle, for the real post, go to (insert blog address here)', So that readers actually are given the option of expessing their objection by leaving. Link it back again.
Just a thought.
ps. bitacle is one ugly-looking website. Like a robber's dog.
